About

Photographer First. Pilot Second.

Being a safe, knowledgeable, and proficient pilot matters. For high-end commercial photography, the essential second ingredient is being a skilled commercial photographer. The frames that really move you in print and on screen come from seeing and understanding different qualities of light, knowing when and how your subject receives that light and choosing the right time or even season to capture this light. That’s who we are. That’s the difference.

Eric Jamison is an FAA Part 107 licensed and insured drone pilot— and a commercial photographer with 27 years of architecture, advertising, and brand work. Drone Pro LV exists at that intersection: aerial craft guided by a photographer’s eye.

Plenty of pilots can operate a drone. Clients hire us for the same creative discipline that shapes a strong still/video on the ground: knowing when façades catch clean light, when the desert holds color, and when midday will flatten a building or wash out a skyline. Time of day, angle, and intent matter as much as altitude.

When the job calls for it, we bring the finishing side of commercial photography too—careful editing, color that holds up, and techniques like image stitching so large façades and wide sites read as one coherent frame, not a stack of snapshots from the air.

Choosing an aerial platform

Helicopter vs Drone

We shoot from both platforms. The right choice depends on altitude, access, budget, and the look you need—not a one-size preference.

Helicopter

  • Cost — Considerably higher hourly rates
  • Image quality — ~67 MP full-frame stills; cleaner at dusk, night, and high ISO
  • Altitude — Typically 800 ft and above
  • Airspace — Stays above standard drone altitudes
  • Access — Needs suitable landing / staging space
  • Noise — Louder over neighborhoods and venues
  • Reach — Strong for wide landscapes and higher vantage

Drone

  • Cost — Lower day rates for stills and short motion
  • Image quality — Up to 20 MP primary; softer at dusk, night, and high ISO
  • Altitude — Standard ops at 400 ft AGL or below
  • Above 400 — FAA approval, or suitable rural airspace
  • Access — Compact takeoff from most job sites
  • Noise — Quieter for residential and events
  • Close-in — Strong for façades, lots, and low approaches

We’ll recommend helicopter or drone based on the shot—not a default preference.
